Where is it?
Haverhill is a market town in Suffolk of some 27,000 people which is situated close to both the Essex and Cambridgeshire borders and represents an excellent opportunity for property investors who wish to establish a foothold in a rapidly expanding and successful area. A Brief History
The town centre itself was rebuilt after 1667 when a ‘great fire’ destroyed the medieval wool and weaving town which had grown up over the centuries. Eventually the area prospered again and became once more associated with the textile industry. Gurteens, a local garment maker since 1784 became a major employer in the town and still operates today.
Haverhill grew rapidly in the 1960s and 70s as Londoners came to settle and work in the new factories that were being built and today it is a thriving and prosperous market town with several large industrial areas providing numerous employment opportunities. From an investment perspective it has much to recommend it as not only are local employment prospects good but the town sits within easy commuting distance of several important places such as Cambridge, Bury St. Edmunds and Saffron Walden which provide further employment prospects.

Haverhill itself has many thriving clubs and societies which cover a vast range of interests. Most sports are represented and there are numerous other activities such as dance, music, art and much more besides.
There is also a superb Leisure Centre, an Arts Centre which acts as a cinema and theatre, a bowling alley and nightclub. The shopping facilities are excellent with a partly pedestrianised town centre providing a good range of shops and a local market. The town also boasts a good library.

Attractions nearby include Duxford Imperial War Museum just 17 miles away and Linton Zoo only 8 miles distant. Cambridge and Bury St.Edmunds, both under 20 miles away, have between them a wide range of social and entertainment possibilities. Road links are excellent as Haverhill is just 12 miles from the A11 which merges into the M11 just 5 miles further on, making Stansted Airport with all its available European destinations under an hour away and London some 67 miles from Haverhill.

Local schooling in Haverhill is good with all the local schools rated as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Nearby, Cambridge of course has a world leading University and Anglia Ruskin University and West Suffolk College in Bury Edmunds caters for a wide variety of educational needs. The University of Essex is also only 30 miles away in Colchester.
There are numerous places to eat in and around Haverhill ranging from burgers and pizzas to fine dining plus plenty of coffee shops and takeaways. National chains such as Prezzo, Frankie & Bennys, Subway and Costa are all represented.
