Kedington – Live and invest in village life

Where is it?kedington plaque

Kedington is a small village in Suffolk with a population of about 1800. It is situated 3 miles to the east of Haverhill, travelling towards Clare. As with Haverhill itself, the village represents a superb opportunity for home buyers or property investors, set as it is in a beautiful country area yet well placed to take advantage of the many facilities in nearby towns.

A Brief History

Like its larger neighbour Haverhill, the village of Kedington dates from at least Roman times and was well established by the Saxon period. It boasts one of the finest churches in Suffolk which dates from the 13th century. Employment prospects are mainly outside the village in nearby towns such as Haverhill, Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge.

What’s to do?

Whilst most of the main facilities in the area are based in nearby Haverhill, the village itself is a vibrant small community. It has its own community centre which incorporates a library, and there are many local clubs and societies such as Gardening, Amateur Dramatics, a Book Group, Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Brownies and plenty more local activities.kedington countryside

Where to visit?

From Kedington, visits can easily be made to Clare Castle and Country Park, Hedingham Castle, Melford Hall and Linton Zoo, whilst slightly further afield is Duxford Imperial War Museum. Cambridge with all of its attractions is just 21 miles and the towns of Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds are nearer, and offer a wide range work and social opportunities. And not forgetting that Haverhill itself is just 3 miles distant with its extensive selection of amenities.

What else do I need to know?

It is served by local bus routes and like Haverhill itself, road links are good with the A11 and M11 both being easily accessible, making getting to Stansted Airport, Luton Airport, London and beyond trouble-free.

In addition to the numerous eating establishments on offer in Haverhill there are several good local pubs within 2-3 miles of Kedington.
