Our Memberships

Surprisingly by law Letting Agents do not have to be regulated! Which is why here at CXG we choose to be members to regulatory bodies such as ‘NALS’, ‘Safe Agent’ and ‘The Property Ombudsman’ giving us the capabilities to offer our landlords Client Money Protection, vastly minimising the risks involved in renting.

National Landlords Association

There are now over 50 Acts of Parliament and more than 70 sets of regulations governing the private-rented sector.

This increasingly heavy regulatory burden means it is more important than ever that landlords understand the legal and regulatory environment in which they manage their lettings.

NLA seek a fair legal and regulatory environment for landlord and tenant, and actively lobby the government at all levels on behalf of our members. They also help ensure that members are aware of their statutory rights and responsibilities.

NLA support over 65,000 Members and Associates, ranging from full-time landlords with large property portfolios to those with houses-of-multiple-occupancy or with single bedroom flats.

Their network of regional representatives and branches provide an important link with local authorities and members.

The Property Ombudsman Logo

The Property Ombudsman

The Property Ombudsman provides a free, fair and independent service for dealing with unresolved disputes between sales and letting agents who have joined the TPO and consumers who are actual or potential buyers or sellers or landlords or tenants of residential property in the UK. The Ombudsman is a member of the Ombudsman Association and follows the standards and rules of the Association. The Ombudsman is totally independent of agents and reports directly to the TPO Council which has a majority of non-industry members.

The Ombudsman’s role is to reach a resolution of unresolved disputes in full and final settlement and, where appropriate, he will make an appropriate award of financial compensation or other action for example make an apology. Therefore, if you feel that you have been disadvantaged by the actions or inactions of a TPO member, you have access to an independent dispute resolution service and can be certain of receiving a fair and reasonable judgment of your complaint.

Safe Agent Logo

Safe Agent

Safe Agent Fully Endorsed – is a mark denoting firms that protect landlords and tenants money through client money protection schemes. For the benefit of consumers these organisations require
their firms/members to have:

– Membership of an ombudsman scheme

For the benefit of consumers the SAFEagent campaign restricts registration to agents who are part of such organisations as these agents meet the stringent standards expected.

NALS logo

NALS

NALS is the National Approved Letting Scheme, and is the most respected and recognised scheme of its type; offering superb value for money for agents, and complete peace of mind for tenants and landlords.

NALS offer a completely independent licensing scheme. That means people can have confidence in any firm using the NALS logo, because they know every single accredited firm has had to agree to:

– Meet defined standards of customer service

– Be part of a Client Money Protection Scheme

– Have a written customer complaints procedure offering independent redress through an ombudsman.

– Have current Professional Indemnity Insurance

– Have a designated client bank account

These requirements, and service standards, provide protection and security for both the tenant and the landlord.
